Anybody wishing to apply for their first learner permit,must sit and pass a "driver theory test".Test was introduced in 2001,all canditates must complete and pass a test of their general knowledge on road safety.Test topics are as follows -

• Good driving behaviour
• Hazard awareness
• Rules of the road .
• Eco driving

The test is computer based.Cost--is 45euro

Booking a test:  The theory test is managed on behalf of the RSA by a test partner ,who are Prometric-ireland.
